Annie's Lane recounts the legend of a local lass who operated a mobile canteen in the Clare Valley, providing sandwiches and warm drinks to harvesters and pruners in the vineyards. "Tropicality and some nice buttery elemens combine to form a perfectly rounded Chardonnay with punch and vigor, and a pleasantly dry, fruit filled finish!" -Wineweekly. Brands Laira Chardonnay 2008 The superb Laira Vineyard was established by Captain Stentiford in 1893 on a premium parcel of Coonawarra Terra rossa soil. Pioneer and patron of the Coonawarra Eric Brand became custodian of the vineyard more than half a century later. The palate is balanced and complex, rich, rounded and fruit driven, displaying vibrant stonefruit with subtle minerality accompanied by cashew nut flavours from the oak alongside creamy characters from ageing on lees and malolactic fermentation. The finish is crisp and clean, lingering with fine flavours.

Cockatoo Ridge Sparkling Brut Cockatoo Ridge is headquartered in the Barossa Valley on the principal road between the two main Barossa towns of Tanunda and Nuriootpa. This high profile site was once the old Hardy's Siegersdorf winery, built in 1930. This wine is not only delightful and pretty to look at, but it offers a robust palate the tickles with stonefruits and the tang of summer punch. Bottle fermentation and a handsome resting on lees provides both the natural effervescence and the soft, creaminess desirable in sparkling wine.

Croser Sparkling 2007 Croser is only disgorged when there is market demand, ensuring extended contact on yeast lees, which contributes to the enormous palate and texture. Croser is at once bigger in colour, and more intense in flavour, dominated by the ripe Jonathon apple of the Pinot Noir content, an impressive wine fashioned from sophisticated batches of fruit from the Piccadilly Valley, which is at the core of the Croser style. dArenberg The Noble Prankster 2008 375ml The effect of Noble Rot or Botrytis cinerea is to make the skin of grapes porous, and given the correct weather, shrivel. The wrinkled grapes are intensely sweet and full of character, producing wine with a wide array of fruit characters. There is a background of mix peel that provides a clue to the intense and complex characters found on the palate. The unctuous luscious wine coats the mouth with an explosion of exotic and intense fruit including yellow peach, quince, green melon and a wonderful lemon butter nuance.

dArenberg The Olive Grove Chardonnay 2007 McLaren Vale is littered with olive groves planted by the first settlers. While the grapegrowers consider the olive trees a nuisance, winemakers are thankful for the bittersweet nuances that the tiny green stonefruit impart to the wine. The dominating notes are of melted butter and popcorn, white peach stones and nectarines. As the wine opens there is a mix of ripe red apple, spices, cinnamon and citrus, with a hint of oak.
