dArenberg The Hermit Crab Marsanne Viognier 2008 The close proximity of the vineyards to the Gulf St. Vincent induces a beneficial cooling effect on the grapes. Further inspection uncovers more subtle characters of honeysuckle and orange blossom. The palate is full bodied, tight and lively, striking a good balance of weight and acidity.

Tahbilk Marsanne 2009 Tahbilk's history with Marsanne can be traced back to the 1860s when White Hermitage cuttings were sourced from the St Hubert Vineyard. The grapes in fact were Marsanne and although none of these plantings have survived, Tahbilk still produces Marsanne from ancient stock dating back to 1927, some of the oldest in the world. Magnificently fruity thoughout the tight and flavoursome palate, lovely stonefruits with warm hints of peach and macadamia, the finish is long and flavoursome balanced with crisp acidity. Fully engaging and pleasingly dry, complex characters will develop with bottle age into the familiar honeysuckle expressions traditionally associated with a mature Marsanne.
